| Process Challenge Devices, Bowie-Dick Test A process challenge device simulates the worst-case conditions for the attainment of the specified sterilizing conditions within items to be sterilized. The device is so constructed that a biological or chemical indicator can be placed within the device in the position, which is the most difficult for the sterilizing agent to reach. The design of the process challenge device depends on the nature of the items to be sterilized and the sterilization procedure. The Austmel Green Card T is a Bowie-Dick test specially packaged for daily monitoring of pre-vacuum steam sterilizers operating at 134°C to detect the presence of residual air. Residual air can defeat pre-vacuum steam sterilization. |
